BOTOX is a prescription medicine that is injected in order to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines.
When you frown, the muscles between your brows contract, leading to frown lines. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet. BOTOX works by targeting one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting that take place over the course of your day to day. An injection of BOTOX in these muscles will temporarily reduce the muscle activity in your face, leading to a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and the frown lines between your brows.
If you’re getting BOTOX for your crow’s feet area, a member of Dr. Kota’s team will inject 3 areas of the muscle that frames the side of your eye. This will be repeated on both eyes. If you’re getting BOTOX in order to reduce the appearance of frown lines, this specialist will give you 5 injections into muscles in your forehead.
Some people feel a pinching sensation when they’re injected. Because of this, the specialist working with you can use ice to numb the area and, if you’re especially concerned about discomfort, they can apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.
The entire process takes only about 10 minutes. Afterward, you’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately.
You should notice a difference in appearance within 24 to 48 hours, and results last up to four months.
